This week has been busy with five Lightning futsal teams in playoff action. Highlighting the group are the undefeated varsity girls who advanced to the finals, seeking their first SFAL futsal title since the 2018-19 season. Read the results of all the games on the Portal.
Harry led the way with five goals, while Bradyn, Coleman, Elliot and Tristan each added one as the eighth grade Varsity White advanced with a 9-7 win over Presidio Hills School this past Monday.
The JV girls lost an overtime thriller in the semifinals to The San Francisco School by a final of 6-5. Maya scored two goals, while Aya, Eve and Malia each added one goal.
Trey and Troy scored once in the seventh grade JV Green’s close 4-2 loss to CAIS in the quarterfinals.
Similarly, the seventh grade Varsity Green came up just short in a 5-4 loss to CAIS in their quarterfinal matchup. Keshav, Kazu and Owen all found the back of the net in a back-and-forth game.
On Tuesday, Genevieve scored eight goals to lead the charge. Nadine scored twice and Daria scored once in an overtime thriller that sent the varsity girls into the finals with a 11-10 overtime win over KIPP SF.
In the boys sixth grade JV White’s 7-6 quarterfinal loss to Children’s Day School, Dante scored four goals and Elio added two in a tight contest.
Finally, on Wednesday the boys Varsity White concluded their season with a 10-5 semifinal loss to SF Friends. Nate, Coleman, and Tristan all found the back of the net in a game that was closer than the final score. Congratulations to the eighth grade varsity boys and their coach Camilo on a wonderful season.
The varsity girls are seeking their first SFAL futsal title since the 2018-19 season when they face CAIS in the championship game on Thursday afternoon at 5:30pm at CAIS. Stay tuned for results from that finale.
