Varsity Futsal Teams Advance in Playoffs

Genevieve put home two goals and Noe was rock solid in the goal for the varsity girls, while the team displayed great passing throughout the match en route to a narrow 3-2 win over CAIS in the first round of the futsal playoffs earlier this week. The girls advanced to the semifinals where they play SF Friends at 5pm on Thursday afternoon. Read the rest of the futsal playoff results below.
On the boys side, Tao and Ellis helped get the varsity boys off to a strong start in the early going as they led going into the half. The team made some big stops down the stretch to secure the 5-4 victory over KIPP Bayview this past Monday. In their semifinal matchup against KIPP SF on Wednesday, the Lightning rallied back after falling behind by three to tie the game at the end of regulation. The game remained tied after the two overtime periods. Live Oak gave it their all but lost in penalty kicks. It was a fun season for the eighth grade boys varsity squad and their coach Camilo, who finished the regular season with a 5-1 record.

Meanwhile, the Boys JV White’s amazing season came to an end after running into a formidable opponent in CAIS in their semifinal matchup on Wednesday. The team put forth their best effort from start to finish but fell 9-3. The team finished the regular season 5-1 with a lot to be proud of. Congratulations to the student-athletes and their coach Patrick on their accomplishments.
